HOODY® is a variety of Fire and Acoustic speaker hoods capable of bringing your installations into compliance with the most recent IEE and building Regulations for the Fire and Acoustic integrity of ceilings. These regulations clearly state that once a hole has been created in the ceiling for any speaker, the integrity of its construction and capability to perform during a fire is sufficiently decreased.

It is a requirement that hoods are fitted to every in-ceiling speaker where a ceiling is rated for 30 minutes or more to make sure that they are complimentary, however, we suggest that an Acoustic Fire hood is fitted to all ceiling speaker locations anyway. If you are unsure about this matter, always fit a hood to be safe.

For example: you will require all in-ceiling speakers in the ground floor of a two storey building to have hoods to retain the ceilings 30 minute fire integrity. If a building has three storeys, however, you will need hoods fitted on all speakers on the ground floor and the first floor to comply with the regulations.
